Defining Feedback
Feedback is an essenal factor in the process of the communicaon cycle. It is the response or reacon
of the receiver to the sender aſter perceiving or understanding the message. Here, the receiver becomes
the sender and vice versa.

communicaon cycle.

The monitor of your class has been instructed by the teacher to explain the rules of sing in the library.
She explains each rule one by one. You all listen to her carefully and follow the rules. As a result, the

the feedback.
Based on the feedback from the receiver, the sender can evaluate the
effectiveness of the message.
Example
Your teacher guides you about the place to keep your skates in the classroom aſter the acvity gets
over. You do not listen carefully and keep it carelessly in between the passage. As a result, one of your
classmates hurts himself. This reveals that communicaon was not effecve. If you had carefully paid
aenon to your teacher's instrucons, you would have kept the skates at the designated place, and
your classmate would have been saved from injury.
Feedback can be positive or negative.
Posive feedback indicates that the sender can connue his communicaon in the same manner as
before.
Negave feedback, on the other hand, suggests a need for change in the mode of communicaon. If the
receiver gives appropriate feedback to the sender, the sender can modify or remodel his strategy of
communicaon.
If no feedback is given, it indicates agreement or reluctance in accepng ideas.

She said, "Rohan, you can do it. It's just that you need to do it carefully with a focused mind. I have
full confidence in you. Try again!"

when they have already achieved it.
Continuous: Feedback should be given connuously, along with instrucons. This enables the

The issue with the above remark is that it is not specific. It does not indicate what went right that led

The concept of sustainable development received its first major internaonal recognion in 1972 at the
UN Conference on the Human Environment (UNCHE) held in Stockholm, Sweden. The term was not used
explicitly, but the internaonal community agreed that both development and environment could be
managed in a mutually beneficial manner.
In 1983, the United Naons created the World Commission on Environment and Development, which
was later known as the Brundtland Commission The Prime Minister of Norway at the me, Gro Harlem
Brundtland, was appointed the chairperson of the commission. The organisaon aimed at idenfying
the sustainability problems worldwide, raising awareness about them, and suggesng the
implementaon of soluons at a global level.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the collecon of 17 global goals set by the United Naons
